Our History

In 1990, three couples began to meet with a vision to launch a new church in West Des Moines.  The leaders and people of Johnston Evangelical Free Church commission a handful of families to begin a new Evangelical Free Church plant.

On March 4, 1990, Valley Church held it's first worship service with 40 people in attendance.

In November 1990, Pastor Quintin Stieff was called as the church planting pastor of Valley Church. The mission of Valley Church is to help people become wholehearted followers of Christ.

Valley Church is a young, vibrant church with an exciting history of growth, in spirit and in scope of life and ministry. God has been very kind and gracious to us!

While meeting at Westridge Elementary School (1990-2000), Valley Church experiences steady growth and purchases land for future construction on Fuller Road in West Des Moines.

Valley Church launches a God-sized task of a major ministry expansion to grow the ministry staff and construct our own facility.

After ten years of meeting at Westridge School, God enables Valley Church to build a new church facility on the corner of Mills Civic Parkway and Fuller Road.

In October 2000, Valley Church holds its first worship gathering in the new facility.

To accommodate future growth, the church purchases an additional 35 acres across the street from the current facility. The church also begins a new church plant, Waukee Community Church.

The church shares its vision of "Changing our lives. Changing our world. All through Christ."

Valley Church announces a strong ministry focus called "Love You Des Moines" to express our commitment to love and serve the people of greater Des Moines in practical compassion and kindness.
