Water Balloon Fight

Thursday, June 28, 6:30-8:30 pm, Cost: $5

Eat dinner before you come. We will serve a snack.

Drop off and pick up at Valley Church

This might be the biggest water balloon fight you’ll ever have! The water balloons will break on the pavement, on middle school leaders, and on YOU! There will be various activities that involve water balloons plus you’ll have a chance to hit Joe on his scooter. At the end we’ll have an all-out water balloon war!!!

Pool Party

Drop off and pick up at Charlie & ZOE Olsen’s house: 9588 NW 74th Place, Grimes, IA 50111

Swim in the pool, jump on the trampoline, shoot hoops, or play in the yard. We’ll have plenty of options for fun during the Pool Party! We will serve ice cream sundaes! Boys-No Speedos. Girls-Wear a one-piece suit or a two-piece suit with a dark t-shirt on top.

Urban Plunge is a mission trip that provides students with hands-on ministry experiences for students. Students will be able to increase their awareness about the issues facing poor and homeless people and tangibly bless people in need. It’s a chance to follow Jesus’ example of love and service. Space is limited to 25 students and open to students entering 6th-8th grade this fall.

8th Grade Amazing Race (For Students Entering 8th Grade in Fall 2018)

Sunday, August 5, 1:30-5:30pm, Cost: Free

Have you ever seen the TV Show The Amazing Race? 8th grade students will have a chance to show off their skills by working with a team to complete the Amazing Race in the fastest time! Students will get into teams with a leader and drive in cars around the Des Moines area.

7th grade boys and girls will be at different houses for this special night. This will be a great opportunity to connect with other 7th graders and meet some of your small group leaders for the upcoming school year!

6th Grade Boot Camp (For Students Entering 6th Grade in Fall 2018)

Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday, August 14-16, 10:00am-1:00pm, Cost: $20

Bring your own lunch everyday; we will serve dessert

6th graders will have a chance to spend some time together before the school year starts. We will play games and have a short talk about things like school, friends, and peer pressure. We will also eat lunch together (bring your own lunch) and spend time connecting as a 6th grade class. All participants will get a t-shirt at the start of the week!

State Fair Day

Sunday, August 19, 11:00am-5:00pm, Cost: $10

Drop off and pick up at Valley Community Center

The Middle School Ministry is going to the Iowa State Fair! We will provide transportation to and from the fairgrounds. The registration fee covers the cost of your ticket and transportation (we will buy a ticket for you). Students will be required to be in a group with other students and with an adult or high school-aged leader at all times. Groups will be encouraged but not required to complete a scavenger hunt, which we will provide. Bring money for food, rides, and other fair activities.
