hand in hand | the Special Needs Ministry of Valley Church

Valley Church believes in full inclusion when possible.  As necessary, children are paired with trained helpers who make sure their needs are met.  We also have a designated resource room available during the 11 am hour to help meet the individual needs of every child.

Adult Ministry
The Adult Sunday School class, which uses a curriculum specifically designed to meet the needs of adults with cognitive disabilities, meets in the auditorium at 11 a.m., transitioning to Room C – 3 after the worship music.  Opportunities for fellowship and service will be offered periodically.

Quarterly respite care for children with special needs and their siblings is offered.  These fun filled evenings for the children provide parents a much needed break and an opportunity to enjoy a night out.

Parent Support | Monthly

Our monthly Mom's fellowship offers mothers the chance to connect and find support through shared experiences.  A yearly Special Needs conference and other family oriented seminars are offered by Valley Church through the Special Needs Ministry Network of Des Moines.

Family Events 

Opportunities for fun, fellowship and connecting are offered through our lunch gatherings, Hand in Hand family evening at the Great Pumpkin Party and other family oriented activities.

Service Opportunities  

We enjoy yearly involvement in Operation Christmas Child and seek to offer ongoing opportunities for service to individuals in the ministry.
