Greetings in Christ,
I am writing to inform families and leaders of Valley Church of my transition from our church staff as the Director of Children’s Ministry. Over the last 10 years, God has allowed much joy and fruit in this staff role. I have grown and developed in significant ways as a result of my time on staff at Valley Church.
My new full-time endeavor will be KidMin Science: Science-Inspired, Christ-Centered Ministry Resources. For years, I have shared the gospel through The Amazing Chemistry Show, first for audiences locally, then around the state, and now around the country. Three years ago, I created a science Vacation Bible School, entitled “Basic Elements VBS.” This curriculum was built exclusively with my at-home hours, energy, and financing. Science VBS is a digital and downloadable curriculum that empowers churches to share the gospel by hosting their own local Vacation Bible School, reaching thousands and thousands of kids. After the success of the first curriculum, I produced a second digital curriculum entitled, “Elements of Trust VBS.” A third Science VBS, entitled “Faith Lab,” is now being produced and should be released January 2017. The VBS curricula and the Amazing Chemistry Show have been used of God around North America and around the world. One special example is a ministry in Iran who was equipped through Science VBS for gospel ministry. Kids in Iran were hearing the gospel but I did not have to leave my home. I am excited for the ways God is allowing me to use the gifts and energies He created within me towards this ministry.
While Sarah and I are experiencing a wide range of normal human emotions associated with a decision of this magnitude, we are completely unified in our new calling. We are so grateful this opportunity allows me to office out of our home and therefore remain in West Des Moines. We are overjoyed to continue in the work of the Gospel message of Jesus Christ in ways that are above and beyond what we could have imagined for this next chapter of our life’s story.
The role of a leader in ministry is to (1) leave their ministry better than they found it and (2) leave with people and processes in place where ministry momentum is perfectly positioned for a bright tomorrow. With an honest heart, I feel both of these goals have been met during my time on staff as the children’s pastor of Valley Church.
Please join me in celebrating what God has allowed to happen over the last 10 years through the Valley Church Children’s Ministries. In addition, please join me in celebrating a new chapter of life and ministry through this “Ministry of Chemistry”.
