Urban Plunge is a mission trip that provides students with hands-on ministry experiences for students. Students will be able to increase their awareness about the issues facing poor and homeless people and tangibly bless people in need. It’s a chance to follow Jesus’ example of love and service. Space is limited to 25 students and open to students entering 6th-8th grade this fall.

Have you ever seen the TV Show The Amazing Race? 8th grade students will have a chance to show off their skills by working with a team to complete the Amazing Race in the fastest time! Students will get into teams with a leader and drive in cars around the Des Moines area.

7th grade boys and girls will be at different houses for this special night. This will be a great opportunity to connect with other 7th graders and meet some of your small group leaders for the upcoming school year!

6th Grade Boot Camp (For Students Entering 6th Grade in Fall 2018)

Bring your own lunch everyday; we will serve dessert

6th graders will have a chance to spend some time together before the school year starts. We will play games and have a short talk about things like school, friends, and peer pressure. We will also eat lunch together (bring your own lunch) and spend time connecting as a 6th grade class. All participants will get a t-shirt at the start of the week!

State Fair Day

The Middle School Ministry is going to the Iowa State Fair! We will provide transportation to and from the fairgrounds. The registration fee covers the cost of your ticket and transportation (we will buy a ticket for you). Students will be required to be in a group with other students and with an adult or high school-aged leader at all times. Groups will be encouraged but not required to complete a scavenger hunt, which we will provide. Bring money for food, rides, and other fair activities.

What a better place to spend a weekend in the fall than with your friends and middle school volunteers at Hidden Acres Christian Center! We will spend the weekend playing games, hanging out, and growing closer to God. The chapel sessions will all focus on being a good friend.

This is a night for students to invite friends who don’t normally go to any church. The night will include food, prizes, and lots of fun!


Great Pumpkin Party

Free dinner served starting at 5:15, check in by 5:45

The Great Pumpkin Party is a big all-church party and the entire community is invited! Middle school students can sign up to help run carnival games on the lower level of the church building. Students can serve on one, two, or all three nights!

This is THE middle school event of the year for students in Iowa! We will start the event with a rally featuring a guest speaker, a band, and a pizza feast. After that we will spend all night at places like Sky Zone, Metro Ice, and Air Lanes. Invite friends and classmates who don’t normally go to church. 8th Grade OCC Minneapolis Trip

Cost: $65

Bring a sack supper on Friday

Bring overnight stuff because we will spend Friday night sleeping at a church in the Twin Cities! On Saturday we will serve at the Operation Christmas Child (OCC) Processing Center and then explore the Twin Cities. Space is limited to 25 students so get signed up before spots fill. Due to OCC age requirements we can only bring 8th grade students on this trip. Parents can check Middle School Facebook Page for travel updates on Saturday night.
